The south Florida MLS database consists of listings from 5 major south FLorida counties, Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, St Lucie and Martin. The current listings count is approximately 126,000 units. about 36,000 of these units are “short sales”. A “Short Sale” happens when the Bank/Lender accepts less than the current balance of the loan as a payoff.
Consumers under the influence of greed and using easy money, purchased overpriced properties during 2002-2006 using scary mortgages and now are in trouble nor being abl;e to make their monthly payments.
